Galassia-5
CubeSat Payload

Overview

Team Lead of the Skunkworks subgroup within a 6U student CubeSat program, leading the design and development of an in-house high-resolution Earth observation imaging payload as a cost-efficient alternative based on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) systems.

Constraints

  • 2U volume limit
  • Target ~5 m GSD at ~550 km orbit
  • Budget limitations requiring COTS alternatives
  • Integration with existing satellite systems

What I Did

  • Optical system design
  • Sensor-to-optics integration
  • Payload mechanical design
  • System-level integration with the satellite bus

Outcome

Ongoing development toward testing and integration.

Swashplate internal combustion engine concept

Swashplate Internal
Combustion Engine

Overview

UROP project supervised by Mr Lim Hong Wee. Designing and developing a swashplate-based internal combustion engine architecture, with the goal of achieving diesel-like torque in a compact gasoline engine.

What I Did

  • Design validation and simulation
  • Mechanical design and structural analysis
  • CFD analysis
  • Lubricant and chemical requirements assessment

Outcome

Ongoing research and development.

Fuel speed-pour nozzle prototype

03 / 05

Fuel Speed-Pour
Nozzle

Overview

Designed and engineered a fuel jerry can nozzle using Onshape to reduce fuel wastage during refuelling operations at Paya Lebar Air Base.

What I Did

  • Designed and prototyped the nozzle using CAD (Onshape)
  • Tested prototype to validate performance
  • Submitted through the base's formal innovation process

Outcome

Prototype testing demonstrated over 80% reduction in fuel wastage. Received approval from the base commanders' committee for organisation-wide implementation. Awarded the Base Innovation Award — a letter of commendation from Base Commander Colonel Chen Boon Chong.

Tendon repair stapler prototype

04 / 05

Tendon Repair
Stapler

Overview

Designed and prototyped a minimally invasive tendon stapler to improve surgical efficiency and reduce recovery time in soft tissue repair during paediatric surgery. Supervised by Prof. Tan Kok Zuea.

What I Did

  • Concept development and prototyping
  • Focused on ergonomic deployment, precision alignment, and secure fixation under high-tension conditions

Outcome

Functional prototype developed through iterative design.

Solar-powered electric bicycle

05 / 05

Solar-Powered
Electric Bicycle

Overview

Designed and engineered a solar-powered personal mobility bicycle, combining mechanical drivetrain design with electrical circuitry and semiconductor-based charging systems.

What I Did

  • Mechanical drivetrain design
  • Electrical circuitry and semiconductor-based charging system integration

Outcome

Completed as an early engineering project.
